Huff and puff

What is it about summer that makes us want to get out and get moving. Every Wednesday night the ward here does Ultimate Frisbee. For those of you new to the sport, it's sort of like football. Two teams, one "kicks off" the other catches and tries to run back across the field to score. Only catch if you have the frisbee, you can't move. So there is a lot of running. A lot of running. Happily I stood on the sidelines for half of it, trying to get some practice in with my camera.

So we went this week. I've wanted to go since it began about a month ago, but that being Chris's first day off of the week it's always been hard. Roland and Chris played basketball while we waited for someone to show up with an actual frisbee. The they practiced a bit, before splitting and begining.

I was expecting something along the lines of "half assed", not to say anything bad against these guys. But, I mean it's frisbee...and boy was I wrong.

UF - 7

They ran and jumped, swatted and blocked. It was rather entertaining to watch.

UF - 9

Everyone is welcomed to play, all the way down to the young ones. A little dirt and grass makes kids happy. Pria hopped on the field and ran with Chris after the frisbee for a few minutes even.

UF - 10

They get chances to catch and throw, sometimes better then the big kids.

UF - 13

But not always. Long throws were hard to nail down. Wind and to be honest a frisbee isn't the most exact thing to be tossing. But a few of the guys have practiced lots and got it down pat.

UF - 16

Long passes come down to fighting in the goal to catch or block it. Some of the blocks were a bit more questionable then others, but in good fun.

UF - 20

As the evening wore on more people showed up, MST must get later in the summer.

UF - 21

It was a good night's worth of fun. Lots of laughing and I got my chance to run and suck at throwing a frisbee. I of course was the only one to take of one of the kids. Resilent Drew, took the blow and kept on trucking. My forearm is slightly black and blue from the collison, I'm glad he wasn't really hurt.

I can't wait til next week :)

Looks like damn good fun. We do the same cept with..more rugby rules placed in it..which means more..."Accidental" tackles.

..yeah...Accidents.

Then it ends with kicking. It always ends with kicking...
